Sage & Saguaro

St. George, UT

A sage-green kitchen island anchors an open-concept living space styled with curated southwestern art and warm desert textures — earthy, layered, and lived-in.

At the heart of this open-concept space is a kitchen island painted in a soft, dusty sage — the project’s quiet centerpiece. We chose the color to bridge the warmth of the wood-look flooring and the cool gray fabrics in the adjacent living area, and finished it with black hardware so it reads grounded rather than precious. The two woven rattan dome pendants overhead bring a natural texture that keeps the room from feeling overly polished.

In the entryway and along the gallery wall, we leaned into a southwestern story without tipping into cliché. Framed prints of Joshua Tree, Monument Valley, and a graphic saguaro layer with a planted hexagon shelf, a terracotta vessel, and small ceramic objects with their own personality — including a tiny mint-green VW bus that became a quiet favorite during install. The styling is intentional but never staged.

It’s a home that knows exactly what it is: warm, casual, a little quirky, and built for actual living. Every choice — from the painted island to the curated wall to the woven pendants — pulls toward the same idea: a desert-inflected open plan that feels collected over time, not catalog-ordered all at once.
